How do I maintain my siding?

Depending on the style and material of siding you decided to install on your home, the way you maintain the appearance and durability will change drastically. For example, if you have used wood as a siding for your house, diligent maintenance will be required to ensure the gorgeous appearance is maintained over the years. Moisture and weather can really take a toll. You should inspect every inch of the siding and treat any areas showing signs of wear throughout the year – at least every six months. This goes for all types of siding, really.

To clean wood of any dirt or mildew that has gathered, use warm, soapy water and a soft brush to remove dirt. Mildew will require one-part bleach and four-part water to remove.

You should also be wary of any trees and bushes that come too close to the home. The branches could snag on the siding and cause tearing or unsightly marks.
