Pull it down tightly, smooth it out, and then nail the edges down so the tarp doesn’t blow away. It won’t look great, of course, but it will at least keep rain and debris from getting into your home.
If you notice any curling or loose shingles, re-adhere them – just be extremely careful, because if you’re not you could easily suffer a potentially catastrophic fall. Use a heat gun to straighten out any shingles that have curled, and then use roofing cement to glue them down. In the event some shingles have become loose, slide them under surrounding shingles and then nail them down.
Maintenance
One of the best ways to avoid needing emergency roof repair is to have your roof professionally maintained on a regular basis. Your roofer should perform a thorough inspection once every six months and be able to identify any small issues before they become major problems.
