Does my roof qualify for a Federal Energy Tax Credit?

Energy Efficiency Tax CreditTax credits are available that allow homeowners to claim 10 percent of the cost of qualified energy-efficient building materials, up to $500.  Note that the credit applies only to the cost of the product and does not apply to the labor/installation of materials or systems.

Manufacturers are required to provide a certification that their products meet the requirements of this provision.  You can download the form by clicking on the link “Manufacturer’s Certification Statement,” complete and keep it with your tax records.  When completing your taxes, use IRS Tax Form 5695.

The state of Texas and several municipalities offer various incentives to use energy efficient products. You can review the incentives available in your area by checking the Database of State Incentives for Renewables and Efficiency at www.dsireusa.org.

TXU – Commercial Energy Efficiency Program

TXU offers a variety of rebates to commercial customers that sign up for or renew a 12-month contract with TXU. Rebates are available for HVAC equipment, lighting, programmable thermostats, vending equipment, tankless water heaters, roofing improvements. Contact TXU for additional details on this program.
